TMD/TMJ Treatment
Do you suffer from chronic headaches, jaw pain, clicking or popping of your jaw, migraines, sinus pressure or ear ringing? If you answered yes to some of these then there is a chance you have developed TMD.
TMJ pain – also known as TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder), refers to disorders related to your temporomandibular joints in front of each ear that connect your lower jaw bone to your skull.
They control your chewing, speaking, biting and swallowing. The way that your bite comes together can strain the muscles and ligaments, which causes jaw soreness and muscle pain.
Many people who suffer with headaches and migraines often attribute their pain to weather or stress. While these can be likely causes, you’d be surprised to find out that the majority of people who get frequent headaches or migraines actually have issues related to their bite.
When teeth first erupt, they often do not match. Over the course of your teeth and jaw development, some do get adapted enough so that they can eat and chew without difficulty. However, unfortunately many cannot adapt to this and start noticing the following signs and symptoms:
- Frequent Headaches
- Migraines
- Sore Jaw
- Sinus Pressure
- Clicking/Popping
- Chipped front teeth
- Worn down the teeth
- Bite feels pushed back
- Avoiding chewy or hard foods
- In more severe cases you may experience: ear ringing or soreness, dizziness, neck pain and shoulder pain
Simple, Safe Treatment
Most people survive alright despite this condition. But certainly their quality of life is not as great (dealing with headache for example, is not an easy task).
